A Voice Like an Angel: Spotlight on Karlyn A. Moore, MT-BC
At Cardinal Hospice Care, we believe in the profound impact of music to heal, soothe, and uplift. One of the shining stars of our team is Karlyn A. Moore, MT-BC, a Board-Certified Music Therapist whose journey to hospice care is as inspiring as the melodies she shares.
Karlyn’s passion for service began early, shaped by her father’s ministry and visits to those in need. A Navy veteran, she embodies dedication and resilience, earning her Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy with a minor in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte. Along the way, she developed her musical talents, mastering instruments like piano, guitar, and percussion, and combining them with her deep understanding of psychology.
Music has always been central to Karlyn’s life. But it wasn’t until the loss of her late husband that she discovered a calling that united her love for music, her medical expertise, and her heart for service: hospice music therapy.
During her internship in hospice care, Karlyn found her life’s work. In her words:
“To serve and not to be served on purpose and with purpose. I want those transitioning to leave this earth in comfort and peace. Through active listening, singing for life review, and creating moments of joy, I aim to bring dignity and connection to every patient I meet.”
In addition to her work with patients, Karlyn leads Cardinal Hospice Care’s memorial services, honoring loved ones who have passed in skilled nursing partner facilities across the state. These heartfelt gatherings take place where Cardinal Hospice Memorial Trees stand tall, offering comfort and reflection to families and staff alike.
This holiday season, Karlyn is sharing her gift of song with a special message of hope and warmth. To hear Karlyn’s holiday message in song, click here.
