Guiding Young Hearts With Care
Camp Butterfly is a free, three-day grief and bereavement camp for children ages 6–17 and their parents or guardians. Created by Cardinal Hospice Care, the camp provides a safe, nurturing space for young people to process loss and begin healing—alongside supportive workshops for the adults who love them.

Too often, children are the forgotten grievers. Many families lack the tools, education, or comfort level to support them through difficult losses. Left unaddressed, grief can impact a child's emotional, physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being.

Why It Matters
  • More than 6 million children in the U.S. will lose a parent or sibling before turning 18.
  • Grief can stem from illness, suicide, homicide, overdose, or other tragic losses.
  • Youth suicide is rising—including heartbreaking cases as young as 11 in our local communities.
Our Mission
To bring grief education and emotional support to families through safe spaces for children—and to partner with local schools, churches, and nonprofits who serve young people affected by loss.
What Campers & Caregivers Can Expect
  • Creative healing — art, music, and outdoor play led by licensed bereavement professionals
  • Peer connection — small-group sharing that normalizes feelings of loss
  • Caregiver workshops — practical tools so adults and kids heal together
  • Camp-style fun — healthy snacks, games, and lasting friendships
