Cardinal Hospice Care Reaches New Heights in National Veterans Program
In a significant stride towards providing exemplary care for our nation’s Veterans, Cardinal Hospice Care is thrilled to announce its achievement as a Level 2 Partner with We Honor Veterans, a distinguished program by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. This milestone underscores Cardinal Hospice Care’s unwavering commitment to delivering Veteran-centric care within the community. As a Level 2 Partner, Cardinal Hospice Care is at the forefront of offering specialized care to Veterans confronting serious illnesses. The commitment extends beyond conventional practices, encompassing a unique Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer program, training on specific medical and mental health concerns, and guidance on navigating VA benefits.
Amanda Clark, Director of Business Development, expressed Cardinal Hospice Care’s dedication, stating, “Our commitment to supporting Veterans is reflected in various initiatives, including specialized care programs, staff education, partnerships with Veteran organizations, and personalized end-of-life plans. We aim to create a compassionate environment that acknowledges and honors the sacrifices made in service to our country.”
Key components of Cardinal Hospice Care’s approach include a Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer program, specialized staff training, partnerships with Veteran organizations, and individualized care plans. These strategies are designed to ensure a personalized and respectful end-of-life journey for Veterans, considering their unique needs, preferences, and any service-related health conditions (set up as a check list).
The We Honor Veterans program, launched in 2010 by NHPCO and the Department of Veterans Affairs, addresses the growing need for Veteran-centered care. As Veterans from different eras age, access to palliative and hospice care tailored to their specific needs becomes increasingly essential.
