Healing Through Art: A Growing Support Group for Veterans and Families
At Cardinal Hospice Care, we know that grief doesn’t always have words. That’s why our Healing Through Art support group offers a creative and compassionate space where veterans and their families can process grief, trauma, and loss—without having to speak a word.
The group meets at the Arts Council in Williamston, NC, where participants express their stories through painting, needlepoint, crochet, and other art forms. The process is simple, yet deeply meaningful: once a piece is completed, the group reflects together—discussing what they see, what it means, and how it helps them heal.
At the most recent gathering, attendance doubled—a clear sign that word is spreading and the need for safe, creative spaces is being met. Veterans, children, and grandchildren are beginning to find community, strength, and peace through shared creativity.

“Art allows us to say the things words cannot. In every brushstroke, there’s a step forward in healing.”
Art gives people of all ages—especially children and veterans—a non-verbal way to explore difficult emotions, connect with others, and build resilience.
The Healing Through Art Support Group continues June 14 and June 28 from 1–3 PM at:

We welcome you to join us or help spread the word. Healing comes in many forms—and sometimes, it starts with a brushstroke.
